Antioch Presbyterian Church, particularized in 1944, was established for the purpose of proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to propagate “the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.” It was part of the PCUS, also called the Southern Presbyterian Church, but in 1974, Antioch joined the newly formed Presbyterian Church in America.
What is Presbyterianism?
Presbyterian refers to our form of church governance. We believe the clear biblical pattern is for churches to be governed by presbyters (elders) who rule jointly in what are called “church courts”, i.e. presbyteries and the General Assembly.
At Antioch, we subscribe to the Westminster Standards consisting of the Westminster Confession of Faith, the Larger Catechism, and the Shorter Catechism.
